I am Brett, son of Edward.

I'm currently employed as a Full Stack Developer for a Credit Union, with my hands in Springboot, Angular, Kubernets, Docker, Ext.js, Kotlin, Swift, PowerShell and Python. Before my Full Stack position, I was the Automation and QA Engineer of the Digital Solutions department. Before my Automation and QA Engineer position, I was an Application Developer for our Digital Innovation department.

Before my Application Developer position, I was the Lead Coder of a startup that used Firebase Cloud functions and Flutter for their tech stack. Before my Lead Coder position, I was a paid apprentice for a coding bootcamp, Array School of Technology and Design, where I developed a relationship with one of their clients, that I eventually became a full time employee for. Hence why this is the same pararagraph. Before my apprenticeship, I was a student at said bootcamp.

Through my years developing, I have constantly sought out technologies and tools to solve problems new and exciting problems, especially in situations with ambiguous acceptance criteria.

I have developed skills not only in raw coding, but also in Prompt Engineering, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and much more.

I am always working on a side project, whether it's a new book or new app, and these projects are what I am most proud, especially with regard to how they effectively track my development skills.

Explore The Cell was the first app I took from idea to production. After reading a book on Flutter development, I purchased Adobe Illustrator, created some assets to represent the innards of a cell, and animated them in Flutter, in an effort to assert to myself that I did in fact understand the fundamentals of Flutter Development.

What It Is v1.0.0 was my second app, and it acted as a hub for users to subscribe to particular interests, so that their notification feed could be more intellectually stimulating and in greater alignment with their interests Version 2.0.0 added features such as an OpenAI powered chat bot, capable of talking to itself "From the perspective of someone with an intelligent follow up question", before it was cool. It also featured AI generated Glossaries based on Topics inserted by the user.

Start Note was my third app, whose purpose was simply to integrated a timer into a tabular table app so that I quickly compare past iterations of similar tables, as well as track my workouts while I performed them. This was my first crack at SQL, whereas previous projects all leveraged NoSQL.

Habit Planet was my fourth app, that allows you to add and track habits. It also lets you export your progress as a CSV.

I am currently working on a game, Tenlach. It will be fun. My first attempt at a game has gone into the app graveyard, along with a few other precious ideas. I look forward to the ressurection of the dead apps, however. The dead game, The Sky Is Falling, was a basic radial shooter app. There is also Table Talk, which is a FaceTime / Card Game app I had begun making. To revive this, I believe I will need servers. I wasn't familiar with Kubernetes when I had begun this app all those years ago. There is also Queue Crew, an ambitious undertaking that would involve adding yourself to a queue of activities in your local area, leveraging Google Map's API, which required far too much maintenance when I had initially begun development. I am confident all of these apps will one day see the light of day.

I have made mini projects as well, including a JavaScript Chrome Plugin, video-speed-controller, that will allow you to right click the screen and adjust the speed of videos online, on any website. I have created several python scripts that automate a variety of interesting tasks, including scraping Google's trending searches and matching them to topics in my What It Is app, and then creating blog posts from the results. Also, I have created a script to detect whether input is, or is not, a haiku. Also, a script that interfaces with Robinhood's API to play a sound any time a stock's price action exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Side hobbies include playing the bongos, measuring and performing analytics on my brainwaves using EEGs and Pandas, reading books and walking my dog. Lastly, 7 books published at the time of writing.
